“Sup?” is a term commonly used by the current generation of teenagers. As I read this article by Thomas Clark, I began to contemplate why we use abbreviations, or slang words? Everyday as I check my social network databases, I realize the thousands of teenage adults that use this type of writing in their everyday word usage. A senior in high school now, I would never imagine writing an email to a teach proposing a question or addressing a problem to them using these slang terms.
A day ago, when my enormous Chaucer paper was to be turned it, it had occurred to me that all of the schools internet accessibilities had been diminished. I had encountered a real life problem and did not have a clue what to do. So I drafted an email to Mr. Wiseman in proper English, proposing a solution to this internet problem. I believe as kids we feel as if it is alright to use slang and words that we make up. But what most of these teenagers do not realize is that they cannot use these words around the adults, teachers, and role models, unless they want to look dumb. G2G!(Got to go) that one example of what not to use!
